Al Barari is probably one of the most understated communities in Dubai but this is now undoubtedly changing and I hope that this feature will reveal the truths of its makeup. Arguably there may have been a stigma about the location in the past or the perceived lack of amenities, but let’s take a better look at this beautiful private oasis today that so many families, of all nationalities, call home. By way of background, I have been involved with the development since its inception in 2005 when residences were being sold off plan in a showroom in Jumeirah. I was so impressed with the concept that I bought one myself, took possession in 2010 and still have the villa to this day!
Zaal Mohammad Zaal, Chairman of Al Barari takes great pride in what has been achieved so far and what is due to come fruition over the next two years is truly impressive. At present there are 189 independent 5 and 6 bedroom villas over 20 leafs, each with their own private pool and jacuzzi, abundant garden foliage and high end quality finishes throughout, a hallmark of Al Barari. But what makes these villas extra special is that each has direct access to one of six beautiful botanical gardens that encompass 80% of the total area of the development, a ratio unique to Al Barari, which translates understandably to “the wilderness.”
The Reserve villas comprising 28 freehold land are designed for the discerning homeowner, granting the luxury of self-design and generous plot sizes, giving that exceptional and prestigious aspect which is rare in Dubai. Within the thoughtfully themed gardens you will discover playgrounds for children, a labyrinth of pathways for dog walking, cycling and running, quiet seating areas and gazebos for collecting your thoughts for the day or socialising with friends. There are lakes, freshwater streams and bridges, and, by no means least, over 1,800 varieties of plants and trees grown on site in the Green Works Nursery, all inspired by Zaal Mohammad Zaal’s extensive travels around the World.
More structured entertainment is found in The Farm, the award-winning gourmet restaurant now being refurbished and expanded during the summer months due to its popularity. Adjacent is the Heart & Soul spa offering innovative beauty and wellness treatments, and the Body Language health club with state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts, infinity-edge swimming pool and a Fresh Start juice bar.
The residents of the community experience a wonderful social scene with a book club, regular dinner parties, kiddie play dates, organised events and a generally supportive spirit for their neighbours and friends. Things that so many other communities lack. The location is really convenient for those working in DIFC and Downtown, being just 15 minutes’ drive away. For travelers Dubai International Airport is a mere 20 minutes and Abu Dhabi on the Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, 45 minutes.
Nearby schools include Repton on the E311, a renowned British private school, the Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) at Arabian Ranches and GEMS Wellington School at Dubai Silicon Oasis. Future plans include a road linking Al Barari directly to Jumeirah and enhanced access to the E311. Nearby communities for additional amenities include Arabian Ranches, The Villa, Falcon City, Living Legends, Festival City, Sports City and Dubai Silicon Oasis. Equestrian clubs in Arabian Ranches, Desert Palm and the upcoming Al Habtoor City are all within 15 minutes’ drive together with the Autodrome at Motor City and the golf courses of Jumeriah Golf Estates, Arabian Ranches and the Creek also within 20 minutes. In a mere half an hour one can reach the beach, Dubai Marina and Bur Dubai so nowhere is that far away.
But what is most exciting is the next phase of Al Barari due to hand over from next year. Stylish and contemporary four bedroom villas in The Nest will be available for rent in the coming months, offering good sized gardens and living space. Later in 2017 comes the iconic complex of Seventh Heaven, an ultra-luxury contemporary collection of villa-sized apartments built across two buildings of 10 and 12 floors with far reaching views towards Burj Khalifa. Residences that will serve well as both principal and second homes in layouts of one to four bedrooms, duplexes and garden homes, benefitting from high-end retail and fine dining occupying two entire floors and the strict security prevalent throughout the whole community. This will be complemented by Ashjar, completing in 2017, smaller buildings in three distinctive designs over four and five floors with only two apartments per floor. Ultimate plans for the future of Al Barari feature a boutique 6-star hotel, serviced apartments, commercial offices, a medical centre, sports facilities, school and, noteably, assisted living residences.
More often than not, first time visitors to Al Barari are taken aback by its beauty and natural karma. It is certainly a development to watch and great value for money for its lifestyle and future potential as one of the “go to” destinations in Dubai.
